ABB has completed the first phase of North East Agra 800 kilovolt (KV) transmission link to supply hydro power from north eastern India. This clean hydro power will be supplied to a nodal substation in Agra and from there it will feed North India. The project was allocated by Power Grid to ABB and BHEL on turnkey basis, including design, system engineering, supply, installation and commissioning

This completion of phase one of the project enables transfer of up to 1500 MW of electricity across this link of 1728 Kilometers. Once fully commissioned this link will become the world’s first multi terminal UHVDC (ultra high voltage direct current) connection with capacity of transmitting enough electricity to serve around 90 million people on average national consumption. This will check shortage of power in North India by transporting hydro power generated in North east mountain area.

ABB is a leader in power and automation technologies and provides solution to utility, industry, and transport and infrastructure customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impact.
