To assist in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” national initiatives, the Quality Council of India and ASQ India have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch sectoral quality programmes in India.

QCI Chairman Adil Zainulbhai, who is the special appointee of Mr. Modi, and ASQ India General Manager Amit Chatterjee signed Thursday a memorandum of understanding at a QCI seminar on how to blend quality into processes and manufacturing, education and health care projects.

The MoU is designed to institutionalize new quality standards for training and delivery processes in manufacturing, health care, education, and service industry. QCI and ASQ India will act as an integrated catalyst to initiate joint activities in those sectors.

With members and customers in nearly 150 countries, ASQ brings together the people, ideas and tools that make our world work better. Through its training, certification, conferences and knowledge offerings, ASQ provides a global network of the best quality resources and experts.

The MoU is designed to support the U.S. government’s pledge for a successful, quality-based “Make in India” initiative. In 2014, Modi and United States President Barack Obama vowed to work together for investments in India for economic growth. Pursuant to Mr. Modi’s call in the Independence Day address for making India the world’s manufacturing hub, the United States has extended unconditional support.

The MoU signed Thursday creates new optimism as the two professional organizations of the two democracies — QCI for India, and ASQ India on behalf of the United States. The organizations will address the issues that hold development and national “Make in India” initiative.
