Survey work on Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal metro project to start in Sept

JICA-logoGurgaon: The survey work on the Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal metro rail project is likely to kick off this September, according to a senior Haryana government official. The Japanese governmental institution, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will undertake review on 108-km long Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal metro rail project and aid the project financially with Rs23,217.80 crore at a cheaper rate of 0.5% for the project.

“A detailed project report was being prepared,” informed Chief Secretary S.C. Choudhary, who is also chairman of the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC).

The Rs27,411 crore project would be jointly completed by the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) and HMRTC. “About 465 acres of land has been identified and notified for the project,” he said adding that as many as 50 metro stations will come up under the project.

While JICA would provide loan of Rs23,217.80 crore the remaining amount of Rs4,193.20 crore would be funded jointly by DMICDC and HMRTC.

The project slated to start in 2015 will be completed in four years.

The Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal belt in Haryana is an industrial corridor and a hub for software companies.
