New Delhi: Accelerating highway projects that were stalled during the UPA reign tops the list of the new government, Krishan Pal, Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Shipping expressed after assuming charge of his Ministry.
“The pace of development of highways sector took a hit during 10 years of UPA regime. My priority will be to accelerate highways building for a sound infrastructure of the nation,” Pal said.
Various bottlenecks have brought Rs1.5 lakh crore highway projects to a halt.
The Minister further stressed on improving the quality of roads, adding more highways to the network and focusing on safety. “Road safety will be another focus area for us,” he said adding that concerted efforts will be made to make Delhi congestion free and to minimize road accidents.
Pal who is also holds the Shipping portfolio stressed on expediting projects in the Shipping sector.
