Mumbai: L&T Construction has won new orders worth Rs2458 crore across various business segments in May 2014. The Power Transmission and Distribution Division secured new orders worth Rs1470 crore from Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) for supply, construction and commissioning of 6EHV substations in Qatar.
The contract, part of the Qatar Power Transmission System Expansion – Phase XI – Stage I Addendum Project, involves supply, erection, testing and commissioning of gas insulated 220/132/66kV switchgear, power transformers, 220/132/66 kV EHV Cables, 11kV air insulated switchgears, protection and automation systems, DC systems and auxiliaries.
“The two packages (Phase XI Stage I & Phase X) which we are currently executing for KAHRAMAA are progressing well and this order which has been won in the face of stiff global competition, reflects the growing confidence of L&T’s capability,” said SN Subrahmanyan, Member of the Board and Senior Executive Vice President (Infrastructure and Construction).
Domestically, the company has received contract valued Rs164 crore for engineering, procurement and construction of 33kV network substation along with SCADA & DMS system and other associated works in Puri town from the Orissa Power Transmission Corporation Ltd.
New contracts worth Rs517 crore has been bagged by the company’s Buildings & Factories business; the major order being the construction of a convention centre at New Town, Kolkata from the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. Work of the contract involves civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, finishes and other associated works. Yet another contract is from a reputed client for the construction of a mall in Chennai. The scope involves civil and structural works.
The Transportation Infrastructure division secured new order for the design build and turnkey construction of 4.3 km 4-lane Elevated Corridor Porject in Kolkata, West Bengal. The contract worth Rs307 crore is slated for completion in 18 months.
