Suzlon group has bagged a contract for supplying wind turbines for projects in California & Illinois in the US, the company said today.
Suzlon team’s US-based additional SWECO (Suzlon Wind Energy Corp) has finalized a contract with PowerWorks for providing up to 98.7 MW of wind turbines, the company said in a declaration.
Though, financial information of the agreements was not revealed.
The company will also manage the operations, maintenance & service of the wind turbines for a period of 2 years, it said.
The group will supply up to 29 units of the 2.1 MW wind turbines & 17 units of the 2.1 MW wind turbines for projects in Illinois & California in Panther Creek wind project.
John Koebbe, President of PowerWorks, said “PowerWorks is thrilled to join Suzlon in bringing 2 new wind projects to the market. These projects demonstrate PowerWorks dedication to aggressive wind energy & to the continued build-out of our development pipeline.”
PowerWorks will begin taking delivery of wind turbines in the summer 2015, the declaration added.
Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation CEO Duncan Koerbel said, “The S111 knife profile has an optimum pressure coefficient allocation which is perfect for lower wind sites, in a variety of climates, for example those at higher altitudes.”
Suzlon Energy Chairman Tulsi Tanti said, “We have a powerful focus on the US market as it offers a favourable renewable energy environment & federal policy framework moving in the right direction. We look forward in welcoming PowerWorks to the Suzlon Group.”
Stocks of Suzlon Energy were trading at Rs 14.16 each on the BSE, up 0.21% from the previous close.
