The Indian Railways has initiated ‘Vikalp’ scheme ahead of the festive season.
The ‘Vikalp’ is baptized from ‘Alternative Train Accommodation Scheme’ and is set to launch on 1st November.
It would be launched in Northern Railway for six months on the Delhi-Lucknow and Delhi-Jammu sectors.
With this scheme, now the waitlisted passengers could opt for confirmed berths in other trains running on the same route.
The largest transporter of the country stated, on the basis of feedbcak, the scheme may be provided via counters also.
Anyhow, it also clarified, that the scheme does not ensure the confirmation of seats and would be subject to availability of seats.
Through ‘Vikalp’ allotment of berth in an alternative train would be available within 12 hours from the scheduled departure of the original train.
